Junior Leadership Courses

At SMMA we are just as enthusiastic about helping our students develop personally as well as physically.

We always encourage our older and more experienced students to help out with the younger ones.  Over the years we’ve actively helped high school students complete various aspects of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme.

With a growing number of teenagers in our ranks we are going to be holding Junior Leadership courses within the club.  This is a free session open to all SMMA students aged 13+.

During the sessions we will focus on:

• Sports Leadership

• Basic First Aid

• Confidence

• Leading a Class

• Presenting yourself to people

• Presenting information to people

• How to cope with various situations & incidents

From a sports perspective the aim is to help students develop the skills it takes to stand up in front of a class & deliver a fun packed session as well as coaching competently.  We will focus on leadership, teaching games and their purpose within a class.

From a non-sports perspective, we aim to help the students learn how to transfer these skills to life outside of sport.  From University and Job interviews to dealing with the challenges life throws at young adults in today’s society.

For students over 16 we will be able to apply for PVG which they can use outwith the club.
